Columbia Heights Teachers

On Tuesday night, almost 40 members showed up to the School Board meeting – wow!!  The district was not prepared and had to bring in more chairs!!  We had 5 teachers speak, representing perspectives from elementary, middle, and high school. Teachers spoke from the heart, sharing how enormous elective classes, working multiple jobs, the lack of counselors, and the lack of adequate pay raises have impacted them (shout out to Kristin Sinicariello, Angela Noll, Brad Boleman, Daniel Honigs, and Emily Shields!)  Each speaker received hearty applause from the union members present, and there was great enthusiasm in the room, along with a beautiful and poignant sign made by Linda Maylish!  A few school board members recognized the laments of our members and Chair Mueller acknowledged that while they couldn’t do anything at the moment, the board supports teachers.
